Issue #6: Scaffold, Noticeboards & Waitlists

May 2025

So far, most of my side project time in 2025 has gone into building out Scaffold - a Symfony & Tailwind boilerplate to help me spin up new projects and ideas, faster and more consistently, using the stack I’m most comfortable with.

It started out as something just for me, but a few parts could be genuinely useful to others too, like an example CI/CD pipeline, boilerplate terms & conditions and privacy policy pages, a pre-configured LEMP Docker image, and docker-compose files ready to go - so I’ve decided to open-sourced it on GitHub.

It’s already come in handy. At the start of the year, I managed to put together a mock-up for a community noticeboard app in about two hours - an idea sparked by trying (and failing) to find event info buried in a noisy WhatsApp group for my daughters’ pipe band. Previously, the manual copy-and-configure steps would’ve taken a day or two, and by then I’d probably have lost all motivation.

Now, Noticeboards is live in private beta, and there’s a waitlist while I finish off registration and onboarding. (The waitlist, by the way, is a new feature that I’m about to backport into Scaffold so it’s available out of the box 🎉.)

If you’re interested in finding out a bit more about Scaffold, why I built it, and what’s included, I’ve written up a bit more detail on my project page for Scaffold.

Oh - and in case you were wondering - yes, Scaffold was built with Scaffold. I'm finally dogfooding my own tool!

Thanks
